Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa, the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, is mourning the demise of his daughter and three grandchildren in a fire that engulfed their home in Sifawa town, Bodinga Local Government Area of the state.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, January 6, 2025, at the residence of his daughter, Rabiatu, who was married to Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, Permanent Secretary of the Sokoto State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development.

The inferno, which swept through the house as the family slept, also claimed the life of the housemaid.

It was gathered that only Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, miraculously survived.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the blaze, while firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the flames.

The remains of the victims were laid to rest today at the Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo Mosque in Sifawa.
