« FG To Save N500M Annually From FAAN Relocation To Lagos – Festus Keyamo | Commotion As Bandits Kidnap Director Near Military Base In Abuja »

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, explained that relocating the administrative office of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) back to Lagos is aimed at addressing administrative challenges.
He said that some principal directors of the agency fly to and fro Abuja on a daily basis to get documents signed and approved.
Keyamo, who stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, added that the problem was compounded because FAAN had yet to be digitalised.
He said, “Headquarters is where the decision makers sit in any set up at all. It is not where the largest number of workers or the biggest building is. Where will they sit to make a decision? In 2022 they came to Abuja they had nowhere to stay.
“There were no offices for all of these principal officers up to now. I supervise seven agencies. It is one of these seven agencies that is moving back to Lagos. When they came here they had nowhere to stay and they went back to Lagos.
“This movement we are talking about most of the officers were actually in Lagos. More than hundreds of them are already in Lagos. Physically, they are not in Abuja.
“We took this decision because the management approached me with facts and indicated their problem. They said that some of the directors are in Abuja and departments under the directors have no place to stay.
“Some of the directors fly every day with files to and fro Abuja to get one single signature or get one document approved, or for one small meeting or the other. This was compounded by the fact that FAAN is not yet digitalised. This is what I met on the ground.”
