The Cross River State Police Command has arrested three members of a kidnapping gang that terrorised Calabar and its environs.
They arrested them at different times after trailing them upon thorough investigation.
The Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad (ACKS) which arrested the suspected kidnappers was led by SP Chukwuma Ogini.
His team earlier apprehended two persons allegedly involved in the kidnap of a housewife simply identified as Mrs Aliu in October but was released after ransom was paid by her husband.
The duo had used a bank account that was later traced by Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad, ACKS.
The third member identified as Gabriel James who operates a laundry service at Edibe Edibe street in Calabar South Local Government Area, was apprehended on Tuesday night.
The command spokesperson, SP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect has made a confessional statement on his role in the abduction of Mrs Aliu.
Ugbo said the suspect tried to escape when the ACKS men swooped in on him.
“He has confessed that he participated in the Kidnap of several victims, including Mrs Aliu.
“He also confessed to have recieved his share from the ransom paid by Mrs Aliu’s husband via an account that was provided by the leader of their gang.
“He will be charged to court alongside two others who were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday,” Ugbo stated.
