Plateau Governor Approves N70,000 Minimum Wage For Workers

A statement issued on Thursday in Jos, signed by the State Head of Civil Service, Stephen Gadong, confirmed that the decision was made on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

The government of Plateau State has given the approval for a new minimum wage of N70,000 for its workers, urging them to reciprocate the gesture through hard work and increased productivity.

A statement issued on Thursday in Jos, signed by the State Head of Civil Service, Stephen Gadong, confirmed that the decision was made on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

According to the statement, “Following the Agreement of the Committee on Consequential Adjustment on Salaries on November 13, 2024, the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has approved the immediate implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage for workers in the State.”

Gadong emphasized that the approval demonstrates Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to prioritizing the wellbeing of the state’s workforce in recognition of their vital role in driving Plateau’s development goals.

He added, “As this new wage policy takes effect, Civil Servants are encouraged to embrace this gesture by renewing their commitment to their duties with increased dedication and zeal, in order to foster a culture of productivity and excellence in service across the State.”
