This is a fortunate call on all concerned associations, Students union leaders/Bodies, students, and the general populace to discern beyond celebrating what’s not.

It is known gainsaying the fact that we’ve nine days left to laud Independence day (October 1st).

ASUU strike has been in vogue since March 2020.
Tertiary institutions and their students have been deprived of their fundamental right to have access to good Education and successful academics activities.

There go to ask ourselves chronologically:

What’s the essence of celebrating Independence day when the overall Students are under the shackling of ASUU inauspicious strike?

What’s the essence of celebration when students and the populace’s means of livelihood are at stake(unfavorable hike in electricity tariff and fuel price)?

What’s the essence of celebration when we are not certain of the year we’re going to graduate?

MUST CHECK  Lagos Schools To Re-Open In September including institutions , Says Sanwo-Olu

In lieu of celebrating a Failed Nation in this coming Independence day. Can we just divert our energy to unanimously call on Federal Government to negotiate and settle the demands of ASUU?

We will not however disregard the struggle of all Student leaders so far. (NANS&NAUS) so far so good they’ve(including me) been doing well but this time around I desire we could do better.

The street should be ours on this blessed day, I call on the Students Union leaders, NANS, NAUS, AND FEDERATION OF ALL STATES STUDENTS UNION to wake up and organize a Nationwide protest as It’s always been because without it the Government won’t take us serious they might even tell us by January next year that they’re not aware of ASUU strike.

We must always have it at the back of our minds that where two elephants fight the grasses suffer it the most. In this context, ASUU and FG are elephants.

ASUU is a pressure group whose interest is to agitate for the interests of its members, Do we have to blame ASUU on fighting for its right? NO. I will beseech us not to see them as Students’ enemy rather the tool to revive our educational sector.

MUST CHECK  Schools Reopening: We are still evaluating — FG

On the other hand, the Federal Government is the legitimate controller of all the activities of the state whose duty is to ensure the smooth running of the system.
They should be able to meet up with our demand.

Let’s come together as one and raise our voices, the oppressors shall stumble. We’ve nothing to lose rather than the chains in our hands.
