Manager Arraigned For Stealing Company Property

An Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court arraigned a 40-year-old man, Damilola Isheniyi, on Friday for allegedly stealing his employer’s goods and money worth N1.1 million.

The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, is accused of stealing and unlawful conversion. However, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Olaide Rawlings, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime between March and May at Vanguard Pharmacy, Oke-Ilewo in Abeokuta, where he was the manager. Rawlings stated that the defendant took goods worth N751,035 from the pharmacy but did not remit the money to the company’s account.

Additionally, the prosecutor said that the defendant converted N303,750 belonging to the company by reducing the money given to him to purchase diesel for the pharmacy.

The accused committed offences that violated Sections 390(6) and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Osinbajo, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N100,000, with two sureties. The case was adjourned until June 7 for a hearing.
