Approximately 6,240 pieces of cap-sensitive dynamite explosives have been intercepted by the Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service along the Yauri-Jega road.
The Area Comptroller of Customs, Iheanacho Ojike, disclosed this on Thursday while handing over the explosives to officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kebbi state.
According to Ojike, the dynamites were intercepted by a joint border patrol team comprising Customs, Army, police, Immigration, and DSS personnel, who were conducting an intelligence-based patrol along the Yauri-Rega road.
Ojike stated that a joint examination revealed that the items were in 40 cartons and sacks with 6,240 pieces of cap-sensitive dynamite explosives (super power 90).
The comptroller stated that the handover of the items to the DSS was done in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration and to facilitate further investigation.
Receiving the explosives on behalf of the state Director of DSS, Deputy Director Anthony Oduwalu commended the Customs and pledged to sustain the interagency collaboration.
