Wale Akinterinwa, the former Commissioner of Finance in Ondo State, has disclosed the process through which his former boss, the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, designated him as the successor to the governorship position.
In an interview with TVC News on Friday, Wale claimed that Akeredolu prayed for him to be the next governor of the state.
According to Akinterinwa, his former boss made the disclosure after he returned from his medical trip to Germany in 2023.
He said, “During the discussion in his office, he told me that he would want me to takeover from him. And he prayed for me. I’m also aware that he told certain people about that desire.
“The conversation happened immediately after he came back from Germany”.
DAILY POST reports that Wale is seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had scheduled the election for November 16 2024.
During the interview, the Governorship aspirant vowed that he would defeat the current Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the APC primary elections. “At an appropriate time, I will make my intentions known. I am confident that I will get the ticket. The people are with me”, he added.
