A Nigerian couple, Chioma and George, have been killed in a gas explosion in Abakiliki, the Ebonyi state capital.
The spokesperson of Ebonyi State Police Command, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident to journalists on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
This came following speculations in some quarters that the duo d!ed as a result of dynamite or inverter battery explosion.
Chioma was said to have died five days after the explosion while the husband succumbed to injuries sustained from the blast on Wednesday, September 11, in the hospital.
According to Daily Trust, the explosion happened a few days after the couple moved into their new residence in Abakiliki.
“The preliminary report shows that it was a gas explosion that k!lled Chioma and not dynamite or battery, although further investigation is still ongoing,” the PPRO said.
