A Nigerian driver and four passengers who were travelling from Zuba to Garki Area 1 in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have narrowly escaped death, Daily Trust reports.
They escaped death on Tuesday after the tyre of the car they were in burst.
The tyre burst made the vehicle somersault several times along Bernex Road.
The Mazda car with registration number SUL-819-MO was said to have 30 car batteries in the trunk.
Daily Trust reports that the survivors sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
One of the survivors, Mr. Gabriel Anakobe, told our reporter that he boarded the car from Zuba to Bernex, not knowing that the driver of the car had loaded the trunk with used batteries.
He blamed the driver for overloading the car which resulted in the accident. “I thank God for my life and that of other passengers. Although some of them sustained injuries, nobody died,” he said.
