On Thursday, an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), identified as Nurudeen, reportedly lost his life after accidentally triggering an explosive at the site of a vandalized electricity tower along Jakana-Auno Road in Borno State.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, reported on his verified X handle that the security operative died after stepping on a minor line while inspecting the vandalised electricity tower.
He posted a photo of the deceased at the scene of the incident with the text: “This was the last photo of Nurudeen, the NSCDC Personnel who stepped on Explosive at the scene of the vandalized electricity tower.
“If you look critically, there was a tiny line across the path, attached to the both components on his left and the right hand sides, I guess that was the trigger.”
“The Nigerian Civil Defence Personnel, NURUDDEEN who paid the supreme price as a result of the Bomb Explosion, which brought 3 Power Towers Along Jakana-Auno in The Early Hours of Today 28/12/2023,” he added.
