A lecturer with the Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi, Garandi Danjuma Ijudigal, has been remanded by the magistrates’ court in Mubi LGA over allegations of r*pe.
The lecturer was caught allegedly molesting a secondary school leaver in his office after which the victim’s family filed a case at the magistrates’ court.
Ijudigal, a lecturer in the Department of Geography, was charged before Magistrate Chivi Ali.
Confirming the incident to the Nation, the spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, Sulaiman Ngurore, explained that the case was initially filed without a police report and that the court referred the matter to the police for proper investigation.
He said information gathered in the course of investigation by the police indicted the lecturer for r*pe, alleging that he s3xually assaulted a secondary school leaver after molesting her in his office.
The PPRO said that after the arraignment of the defendant and upon the police getting involved, the prosecution had applied for legal advice from the state Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
He said when the advice is gotten, the case would most likely move to a high court for proper prosecution.
