On Friday, youths in Amanuke, a community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, assembled to conduct prayers in memory of the late Chief Osondu Nwoye.
Nwoye, the chairman of Auto Promotion Limited, a leading motor spare parts company based in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, reportedly slumped and died while watching the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, semi-final match between Nigeria and South Africa.
He was said to have journeyed from the coastal city of Abidjan to Boake in the hinterland of Cote d’Ivoire, the host country, to watch the game before his death.
Nwoye’s death had reverberated in his community back in Nigeria, where on Friday, youths of Amanuke, in Awka North Local Government Area, of Anambra State, gathered in the village square to mourn him and also prayed that such would not occur again in the community.
It was learnt that before his death, Nwoye had engaged in developmental activities in the community.
