Four robbery suspects have been arrested by operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command.
The police, which said Wednesday morning that the operatives achieved the feat by raiding criminal hideouts, categorized the four suspects as members of loose groups of youths known around Adamawa State as Shila Boys.
The Shila Boys are well known for arming themselves with knives and typically robbing residents of their handsets, cash, and other light belongings, often in broad daylight.
The command said in a statement that offensive weapons were found on the suspects, who were picked up in Mubi, a major commercial nerve center 194 kilometers north of the state capital, Yola.
Signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police statement explained that the four suspects, aged between 22 and 24 years, were rounded up from within the Mubi South and Mubi North LGAs.
The statement said the operation was conducted through the combined efforts of police operatives attached to those LGAs in collaboration with sister security agencies. “These suspects are Adamu Halidu, 22 years old, a resident of Yelwa, Mubi North; Ahmed Ibrahim, 23 years, a resident of Lukuwa Ward, Mubi North LGA; Sa’adu Haruna, 24 years, a resident of Tashan Gyela, Mubi South; and Ahmed Haruna, 23 years, a resident of Nasarawo, Mubi South LGA,” the police disclosed.
