On Friday, frustrated citizens of Rivers State gathered at the office of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) to demand the holding of local government elections scheduled for October 5.
The protesters were said to have defied the heavy rainfall in the state, singing and drumming, with one side of the road blocked.
This comes after Governor Siminalayi Fubara stormed the RSIEC at 1 am on Friday, to stop the Rivers State Police Command from taking over the premises.
