Sunday Bala, a commercial tricyclist in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, has received widespread recognition for returning bags left behind by two passengers in his tricycle.

The bags in question contained phones.

Many Yola residents have showered encomium on Sunday for returning the bags, complete with the phones and other valuables.

Daily Post reports on Sunday morning that Maryamu David and Ladi Wazindi who boarded Sunday’s tricycle from the Jimeta Bypass to FAAN Quarters did not alight with their bags.

They received a huge surprise when Bala answered the call made to one of the phones, reconnected with them and returned their bags with every content.

Ladi Wazindi was further shocked that Bala would not collect any thank-you gift from them.

“We made sincere efforts to make Bala receive a token of appreciation but he would not have it,”
 Ladi said.

She described Sunday as a hero of the year who deserved honour and special recognition for his act.

Daily Post further reports that three local government areas that make up the Yola capital city: Yola South, Yola North and Girei are burdened by the activities of some young elements called Shila Boys who specialise in snatching phones from residents, often using tricycles better known as Keke NAPEP.

The boys, acting as if they are genuine commercial tricyclists, carry passengers, only to turn against the passengers at some point in the journey and snatch their valuables, mostly phones and cash.
